GPHA, Inc. Dental and Behavioral Healthcare

I had a dentist appointment today that was supposed to be a regular check up. They gave me a cleaning, even though I already had a cleaning scheduled for the following week. Then, the dentist Dr. Michael Thomas, who was not the usual dentist I had been seeing for my past few appointments, suggested to re-do dental work I had only just gotten done 4 months ago. When I asked for a reason why, he could not provide one. I told him I did not understand why he was recommending this and instead of trying to offer me an explanation, he looked at me and said "you don’t understand?" I decided not to go forward with this treatment plan as he could not clearly explain why it was needed. When the front desk tried to schedule me for a filling, I asked which tooth the filling would be for and they couldn’t provide me with an answer either. I tried calling to reschedule my next appointment with my previous dentist, and was told that the office was not open on weekends even though they schedule appointments on weekends.

Dealing the front desk is the punishment for having mental health issues. It’s almost like they hate you for needing help and having to call and they have to pick up. They also congregate at the front desk and speak about unprofessional topics in front of guest/ members. However, my therapist is great !

I haven't had a bad experience here they might be a little behind at times but I expect that. The young ladies at the desks are always polite and respectful. Dr Jones is the best doctor I've ever had.

Docs are ok. Front desk is horrible. No one likes to do their job properly so prepare yourself to do a lot of running around with these guys. You can complain about it with the proper staff and just get told that it will be sent to the "supervisor" and nothing will get done. Avoid at all cost. Worst GPHA location in the city.

Absolutely horrible service, there's no single person satisfied with this place. It needs to closed and I urge anyone to seek medical attention elsewhere . They're rude and unprofessional

In an emergency, The behavioral health and dental staff never answer the phones and will be sitting at the front station talking about their personal lives, vacations and talking about each other instead of servicing clients. I’ve been a nurse for 23 years and I see this all of the time. Sad but true.

This place is ran horribly and I work in dr offices as an medical assistant so i know. You schedule an appointment there which is pointless because you will be waiting for at minimum an hour to see an actual physician. There is no effort on neither the dental assistants or doctors parts to adhere to some sort of schedule. Not to mention waiting room is packed to the gills, maybe 25-35 people at one time in a small waiting room. It’s giving covid all over again! More patients are coming in the door than are going back to see a doctor. To the point where they bring in more chairs from the back. Staff looks mad that you actually showed up to your appointment.. much less on time or early. This is not normal and i find it telling that these kinds of facilities are always located in our neighborhoods. I’ve worked at clinics in other parts of Philly and have never been to a more poorly run establishment. The dog shelters are more efficiently run than this facility. If you can help it go to another location or call your insurance and have them provide a different dental/medical facility in the area that will take your insurance. You DO NOT have to be subject to a facility that clearly does not have your best interest at heart. They are churning you in and out to bill your insurance and make money off of your sickness.. not to mention continue to get state funding to provide less than quality care!
