I have NEVER had any issues with my teeth and all of a sudden I find out I was charged for a periodontal cleaning when she NEVER mentioned that to me during our visit. What she did talk about during the visit was her ENTIRE life. Her 17 nieces and nephews, the sports she took her nephews to when they were young, the fact that she has been married several times, and that she has no kids. There is no problem with talking about your life to your patients. However, it is an issue when you don’t mention what you are doing especially when the patient is only going in for a cleaning. It had been 3 years since my last dental visit, I had zero problems with my teeth and gums. I drink cold drinks and chew on Ice and never any problems. To find out that I had a cleaning for periodontal disease after the fact is DISGUSTING. I have worked in healthcare for MANY years and this is not okay. I have been requesting my office notes through email and have been calling and no one has responded or called me back. I will never come back to this office. I asked her to pull a tooth because I had a dental emergency. My regular dentist was on vacation. She charged me $850 and was apologizing to me about the bill being so high. She suggested that I come to her for further dental work on some payment plan and told me that she's a lot less expensive than the dentist down the road. I will never use this dentist again! You can tell she loves what she does by the way she communicates with you. She educates you on options and always wants to make sure her treatments are affordable. I have since moved away from Stamford (many states away) but make sure to schedule my dental appointments with her when I am back home. I refuse to go elsewhere! I truly believe some of the negative comments may be because people don't like going to the dentist or they may be uninformed about what they need after seeing other providers. From my side of things, Dr. Barocas is only there to help and she definitely wants to help. Emma her assistant has been with Dr. Barocas for as long as I have been going and is her right hand...
