Dr. Swe has been my dentist for about 5 or 6 years now and I plan to stay with him. He's very personable, remembers personal details to build rapport, and is very thorough. I personally like it when my dentist cleans my teeth rather than have a dental hygienist. I couldn't make it to a cleaning (I live in Sac area now but go to do cleanings twice a year when I'm in the bay visiting family) once and went to some dentist in Orangevale. I was NOT impressed with that dentist who did NO examinations, had a dental hygienist clean my teeth, took an xray and immediately told me just based on the xray that I needed a crown. I asked him about it and he said it was probably recommended due to the large filling I had in the past, but I should see a specialist to make sure I didn't need a root canal as well. Dr. Swe is very thorough and really takes his time. He will do yearly xrays to make sure your teeth are doing ok. He then counts the gum pocket depth each time (I've not had a dentist do it every time), then uses the drill to remove the hard plaques, then uses hand tools to pick out the other plaques. He then flosses, then polishes your teeth. He then sends you home with a goodie bag- toothbrush, toothpaste & floss. When I had invisalign, he gave me advice & tips on what to ask my orthodontist. When I had my wedding, he gave me teeth whitening tips. Now that I'm done with invisalign & my permanent retainers are cracking bc I clench my teeth hard, he helped me get a new mould done (fit me in on his lunch schedule since I mentioned it during the visit) + order the new set for me. Saved me a trip to the orthodontist! Overall, super helpful and explains things very well. He is also very considerate of a patient's finances- he always checks your insurance first to make sure you don't get out of pocket expenses. And since I am out of town, they send me reminders twice a year for cleanings and works with fitting me into the schedule. His office is taking covid very seriously- sanitizing, keeping only 1 patient in the office/ waiting area at one time (you have to call to ask if it's ok to go in- there's a # at the door).
