6.0

We went to Union Square Dental for years but after today, no more. My husband had a crown fall out that they did about five years ago. He called and was told over the phone that it would be $125. He goes and they cement it back in only to tell him as he's leaving that he owes $275!! When he reminded the woman of what was said when they spoke over the phone, she said "Oh that was just for the visit." That is DEFINITELY not what was said over the phone. BEWARE! Ask for any pricing up front so you don't end up like us. The manager ended up only taking $35 off. He could have gotten the work done at our local dentist for $150 but he went back to Union Square because she told him $125 over the phone (and they were the ones to put the crown in initially). I can also echo the previous posters here and say that there was always attempted upselling for mouth guards, Invisalign, and antibiotic treatments with a healthy dose of shaming. They even offered botox for tooth grinding (with the offer to do some cosmetic stuff while they had it out). I did not take them up on any of it. After a rush cleaning by the hygienist, you often sit in the chair for a LONG time waiting for the dentist to come in to glance at your teeth. I can not recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely not be returning.

The last time I went in they basically recommended me to spend thousands of dollars with them for different things that no dentist has ever recommended. I ended up paying $550 for an antibiotic that was "urgent" and they use different scare tactics to encourage you to get all of these unnecessary treatments. My friend is a dentist and I told him all about these recommendations when I showed him my teeth and X-rays and he confirmed that I got ripped off and the $550 antibiotics I bought were 100% unnecessary. Wildly disappointed and I strongly recommend to avoid.

So so rude. Totally humiliated by Dentist who claimed work I had done at USD a year ago had never been done by them! Shocking levels of disrespect and lack of care for customers, heath, wellbeing and TEETH!. Left with gaping space - no temporary solution offered- rude and dismissive. Plus-'Opaque' billing practices doest even cover it! I need another dentist....Avoid. Not recommended.

The hygienist gave me an attitude because I was about 10 minutes late. But she was super nice to her white friend, and her friend looked like she was late too.

Beware the constant upselling. On my first visit they frightened me into buying 4 sets of Invisalign to wear as anti-grinding guards — saying it would be less costly than when I inevitably crack my teeth from grinding — and I later learned from friends that you can just wear one pair for years and years (they told me each set would only last a year or two). They made $1,400 off me on my first visit. Today they tried to tell me my gums were infected and that I needed antibiotics that they use for post surgery tooth pulls — bear in mind I floss and brush daily and havd gotten an "A+" from dentists my whole life. I have never had any issues with my teeth or gum health. I asked how much and she said it’s $90. This time I knew to ask about insurance coverage, and declined. She also tried to upsell me on a fluoride treatment that wouldn’t be covered by insurance. Unfortunately this is the only dentist within an hour that takes my awful insurance. Based on my experience I will probably just pay out of pocket to see my old dentist (from a different insurance era) in my neighborhood.

Very disappointing experience today. I had an 11:00 am appointment and arrived at 11:05 after traveling almost an hour and paying for a babysitter. The receptionist, Mercedes, insisted I pay the $205 (after insurance) upfront before they even touched my teeth and sent a link to my husband to pay. While we were handling the payment, my dentist took another patient, and I left around 11:30 with no treatment. I felt treated like a problem, not a patient — they clearly prioritized money over my health and time. If you don’t value me as a patient, I don’t want to stay, and I won’t be returning.

PLEASE READ IF YOU VALUE TOUR TEETH, INTEGRAL SERVICE, AND AVOIDING SCAMS! TAKE A LOOK AT THE PHOTOS TO LITERALLY SEE HOW THEY ADJUSTED THE PRICING AFTER THEY DISCOVERED THEY CHARGED ME FOR A PROCEDURE THAT WAS 100% COVERED IN ORDER TO AVOID REFUNDING WHAT WAS RIGHTFULLY OWED TO ME. This dental office was by far a nightmare come to life! Not only did they scam me and my insurance, they habitually tried to gaslight me into convincing me that I was wrong. All of the secretaries except for Jill- who often wear a baseball cap, participated in trying to get me to believe that my insurance didn’t cover a filling, despite being told time and time again by several of my insurance advocates that this was false. The secretary who wears glasses even printed out a document from 2020 allegedly describing my current coverage in 2024 which has since been exponentially updated to include a slew of new covered procedures. Low & behold after my 4th visit and millionth time going back and forth, they discovered the filling was covered and I rightfully so, requested a refund. They then adjusted the price of a different procedure (see photos) to make up for the refund they were required to give me. Shame on them! And I am considering pursuing legal action because they’re likely getting over on so many other hardworking individuals. Let’s talk service. I saw doctor Kanatova, who appears kind and competent. She was never disrespectful and explained the procedures I needed and truthfully there were no complaints when she did the filling and half mouth deep cleaning. It was the after care that alarmed me. My filling didn’t cure the problem it seems. I continuously went back to get service on the side she worked on because I couldn’t chew on it without it hurting. She took additional X-rays, flossed it, nothing appeared to be wrong with the filling nor could she determine what was wrong and decided she’d refer me to a root canal specialist even after claiming the filling was not touching the nerve of the tooth. Needless to say, I’m not even sure where to go from here. I have a improperly done filling that causes pain, I’m out of $137 dollars after they likely falsely adjusted the payment, and I hope that you made it to the end of this review because I’d hate for this to happen to YOU. BEWARE! But if you find yourself HAVING TO come here, ASK QUESTIONS, BE MINDFUL, AND DO NOT LET THEM GET OVER ON YOU! Shame on this entire establishment.
