Berkeley Endodontics

We were referred to Berkeley Endo from our wonderful dentist, Dr. Ford as my husband needed a root canal. We had two appointments, one was a consultation which went well. Dr. Carolyn Chong and her assistant were wonderful and explained the whole procedure and even gave us additional reading material and over the counter medication to take home. On our second visit it was time for the root canal. My husband had been neglecting his teeth so the procedure took longer than expected, about 3 hours. I was able to stay with him through it all, as he is not a fan of going to the dentist. Both Dr. Carolyn Chong and her assistant explained everything during the procedure and even took x-rays after to ensure all went well. My husband even said Dr. Carolyn Chong had gentle hands and didn't really feel the needles and was even falling asleep during the procedure. We had a great experience and will be making another appointment in February for his 6 month follow up.

I recently had a root canal with Dr. Cheung at Berkeley Endodontics, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Dr. Cheung took the time to explain the entire procedure beforehand and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I never felt rushed or uncertain—he talked me through every step and consistently checked in to ensure I felt no discomfort. The office staff was also excellent—friendly, organized, and responsive to all my questions. It’s clear they truly care about patient care. For something as intimidating as a root canal, this was as smooth and positive an experience as I could’ve hoped for.

The doctor explained me everything so that I could understand what was going on and what he thought the problem was, which was something nobody told me before. He was very gentle and cautious when checking my teeth and gave me some recommendations based on his exam. They explained me in detail all the examination and course of action and answered all my questions. I appreciate they took the time to do so and I left having a clear plan in my head about next steps. I highly recommend their practice !

Dr. Chong was incredibly sensitive, professional, and caring when we realized my case was complicated. She was willing to accomodate my various preferences and fears about the multiple operations I had to undergo. Aside from the wonderful and practiced standard of care, she is a shining personality that is incredibly easy and flexible to work with in tooth hurty situations.

Dr Silvia Cecchini performed my root canal and I am just blown away at how sharp, professional she was and how comfortable I was. I learned after the procedure she was the professor / teacher for my general dentist in dental school at UCSF - who is also a great dentist. Her talent, master level skill, and compassion made my root canal as comfortable (and even inspiring) as it could be.

Dr. Cheung is an excellent endodontist. I had a complex and complicated treatment plan that required rectifying prior root canal treatments from other dentists. Dr. Cheung ensured that I was comfortable during my treatment, and skillfully alleviated all tooth pain. I appreciate his attention to detail, especially due to the complexity of my infection. All infections were thoroughly cleaned and treated, and my natural tooth structure was maintained (this is greatly appreciated, as I was advised by other dentists that the tooth could not be saved). Dr. Cheung is highly skilled, knowledgeable, and dedicated to listening to the patient. Throughout the process, I was put at ease when Dr. Cheung explained each procedure step-by-step. I found Dr. Cheung's hand skills to be precise and deft: he was able to effectively save my teeth from lingering infections. I highly recommend Dr. Cheung as an exceptional endodontist for his professionalism, experience, and skill.

From the first call to a follow-up call from Dr. Cheung, everything was as it was supposed to be! My dentist, Brian Assael, referred me to Berkeley Endodontics for a root canal and Mae got me in right away. She explained everything succinctly and accurately and I felt she was on top of everything. Consummate professional. Arrived and Jessica, another pro, got me my forms and expedited the entire process. Toshia assisted and made me feel very comfortable and managed my expectations by proactively explaining everything as we proceeded. Dr. Cheung was the same.....he anticipated my concerns and explained everything as we went along to make me feel like I knew him and the practice for years...just like my family dentist, Dr. Assael, does. Would absolutely recommend them and, if needed, would not hesitate in returning. 🙂
