Magnolia Mountain Dentistry

I’ve been searching for a new holistic dentist in Asheville since my longtime dentist sadly passed away. I found Dr. Gates and Magnolia Mountain through the IAOMT website and had a great experience from start to finish. My visit included a comprehensive exam and cleaning, and the entire team was thorough, friendly, patient, and genuinely attentive. The hygienist, Amanda, was especially excellent. She provided a very thorough yet painless cleaning and shared many practical, DIY oral hygiene tips that I found truly helpful. I’m grateful to have found Magnolia Mountain and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking holistic dental care.

A Dentist’s Office, in the past, was normally something I would dread. There just were not many plus sides to the experience. My last cavity was filled about 15-20 years ago. And, it was not a good experience with my nasal passage also being numbed. That memory came flooding back today. But, I should not have worried! Today’s experience was much different. Dr. Gates is extremely skilled, and I had absolutely no issues with my face feeling numb. She and Theresa were extremely patient, calming & provided whatever I needed from soft music, water & blanket to help me relax. They explained each step of the cavity being filled, so I knew what to expect. The process was very smooth and went faster than I expected. Amanda was excellent in cleaning my teeth & explaining care routines for home. I have found a dental home, and without any reservation, can enthusiastically recommend this practice. Highly recommend MMD. The staff is kind, takes the time to answer your questions (and find the answers if they don’t know them), and care about the patient experience. I came to MMD as I was looking for an airway dentist & dentistry practice that is more holistically oriented. Dr. Gates & the team do not push getting devices or treatments that are not needed. I love that they ask from the beginning what your considerations and concerns are (ex price, comfort, time, etc) when making dental decisions. Dental work can be stressful and/or traumatic for people, MMD does everything they can to make it as comfortable as possible. They offer things like blankets, essential oils, and choice of music to make your experience more comfortable and are aware of things that could be challenging for the patient. The team clearly explains things, will pause and slow down as needed, and check-in with patients frequently during treatments. Highly recommend!

If you have had difficulty with past experiences and are scared of the dentist experience- give Magnolia Mountain Dentistry a chance to change that. I was traumatized as a young child by a dentist that didn’t have time for me. It made me not go for years. I decided after they took such great care of my daughter that I would try. My visit was unlike anywhere I have ever been. They were each so kind and friendly and listened to what I had to say. They had 2 goals on my first visit 1 was to find out what I needed for my oral care and the 2nd was what I needed for the appointment to be a success and to make me comfortable with what they were doing. Thank you all for making my visit so positive!!!

I have been so pleased with the kind, caring staff at Magnolia Dentistry. The dental hygienist took the time to explain my current dental status, and gave specific information I can use at home. I love that she took the time to educate me on how to better care for my teeth & gums. The dentist is very easy to talk to, takes time to answer any questions, and follows up after a procedure. I highly recommend!

Dr. Gates and her staff are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. From getting my teeth cleaned to having a crown done my experience with them has been exceptional. I would 100% recommend them to anyone. Thank you for all the great care you've given me these past few months.

People always tell me I’m weird for enjoying going to the dentist. It’s not my fault that Amanda and Dr. Gates are literally the loveliest people I’ve ever met in healthcare. Not to mention I’m getting outstanding dental care. (I promise I’m going to take better care of my gums)
